Zimmermann exits in 6th with groin strain

dimanche 22 mai 2016

Zimmermann left without a test throw. Drew VerHagen took his place.

Any significant injury to Zimmermann is the last thing the Tigers need, having struggled to get their rotation in order after early season struggles. Zimmermann entered the day with a 6-2 record and 2.45 ERA, having delivered at least six innings in each of his previous eight outings, and at least seven innings in each of his last four.

Detroit has used top prospect Michael Fulmer for a handful of starts to fill in for injured Shane Greene, who began a Minor League rehab assignment Friday as he works back from a blister on his right middle finger that forced him onto the disabled list in late April.
