NEW YORK -- Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard was ejected in the third inning of Saturday's game for throwing behind the back of Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley.
Working in a scoreless game in the third, Syndergaard threw his first pitch to Utley well behind his back. Home-plate umpire Adam Hamari immediately ejected him, drawing manager Terry Collins out to the field. As a stadium full of fans screamed and chanted, Collins argued with Hamari until he, too, was ejected.
Utley drew the ire of Mets fans last October for a takeout slide that broke Ruben Tejada's leg in Game 2 of the National League Division Series.
