Mets show 'concern' over Wright's neck injury

samedi 28 mai 2016

"We'll just have to see what happens over the next 24 hours," Alderson said.

Alderson added that he could not speculate on whether the neck injury stemmed from the back problems that the 33-year-old has dealt with over the past two seasons. Wright was diagnosed with spinal stenosis last May.

Even if the injury proves to be nothing serious, Wright will still take the day off on Memorial Day when the Mets host the White Sox at 1 p.m. ET following an 8 p.m. first pitch in Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers.

"Hopefully, the game will be over in ample enough time, but that's still a pretty fast turnaround," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "Not just for David Wright, but for the other nine guys that are going to play, too."

Wright has homered in each of his past three games and has a hit in six straight games, going 6-for-24 (.250) over that span. In 37 games this season, he is batting .226 (31-for-137) with seven home runs and 14 RBIs.
