Mets left-hander Steven Matz (6-1, 2.81 ERA) goes for his seventh win of the season in a rubber match against the first-place Nationals. Tanner Roark (3-3, 2.89) will start for the Nats, who beat the Mets on Tuesday for the first time in their last five meetings at Nationals Park. Roark has never lost to the Mets at home, while Matz, who is making his first start against the Nats, has never lost on the road.
Stat that matters: In seven career starts away from Citi Field, Matz is 5-0 with a 2.18 ERA over 41 1/3 innings.

The first-place Cubs, aiming to win three straight regular-season series in St. Louis for the first time since the 2007, send Arrieta (8-0, 1.29) to the mound in the rubber match at Busch Stadium. The Cubs have won Arrieta's last 22 starts, a franchise record. Today marks Arrieta's first start against the Cardinals this season. He went 2-1 with a 2.42 ERA in four starts against the Cards last year. Meanwhile, Carlos Martinez gets the ball for St. Louis as he looks to avoid losing five straight starts for the first time in his career.
Stat that matters: Arrieta has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last 29 starts, which is the longest such streak in the Majors since 1893, when the pitching rubber was set to 60 feet, 6 inches from home plate.

The White Sox remain in first place in the American League Central despite losing eight of their last 11 games. The Indians are closing fast, and are just 1 1/2 games behind Chicago in the division. Corey Kluber (3-5, 4.10) starts for the Tribe, his first outing against the White Sox this year. Kluber is 2-2 with a 3.54 ERA in six career starts at U.S. Cellular Field. Jose Quintana, first in the AL with a 1.98 ERA, takes the mound for the White Sox.
Stat that matters: White Sox slugger Jose Abreu is 10-for-28 (.357) in his career against Kluber, with three home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs.

Bradley has never faced Rockies starter Chad Bettis (4-2, 4.18). Bradley isn't the only Sox regular on a tear at the plate. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts has a 17-game hit streak, the second-longest active streak in MLB.
Stat that matters: The Red Sox lead the Majors with 264 runs scored and are on pace to score 950 runs this season.
