One day after D-backs manager Chip Hale acknowledged Shelby Miller was struggling with a lingering finger issue, the D-backs have reportedly placed the struggling right-hander on the 15-day disabled list, according to FOX Sports.
Miller is 1-6 with a 7.09 ERA in 10 starts this year. He banged his hand on the Petco Park mound twice during his follow-through on April 16, causing his index finger to throb and forcing him to leave the game in the second inning.
"I think his finger is still not where we'd like it to be after hitting it on the ground in San Diego," Hale said Thursday afternoon. "He's still having some residual effects of that with feel. He's been good to pitch. He's pitched through it. But we've got to make 100 percent sure that thing is not affecting his performance."
No corresponding move has been announced, though right-hander Josh Collmenter is ready to return from the DL and could take Miller's scheduled start Sunday against the Padres.
