The Padres are only the fifth team in Major League history to do so, and they are two games shy of tying the all-time record set by Texas in 2002.
Rosales made sure there was very little drama Wednesday afternoon, homering in his first at-bat and giving the Padres a 2-0 lead. In each of the past three games, the Padres waited until the latter frames, before Alex Dickerson extended the streak.
San Diego has shattered its own franchise record of 14 games, set in 1998, and 10 different players have gone deep during the current stretch. Along with the Padres, Rangers and Braves, the '94 Tigers and '41 Yankees also reached 25 straight.
"I don't think anybody's really paying attention to it," Matt Kemp said of the record before Wednesday's game. "We're all just trying to put good swings on balls and trying to hit the ball hard."
Rosales did just that, and the Padres will get a chance to become the second team in history to go deep in 26 straight on Friday night vs. Cincinnati at Petco Park.
