It came in the fourth, with the game tied at 1 and Angels starter Matt Shoemaker struggling mightily with his command. Leonys Martin sent a soaring drive to deep center field with the bases loaded and none out.
Trout ranged to the track, timed his jump perfectly and made the catch, limiting a stunned Martin to only a sacrifice fly.
The catch came in the finale of this three-game series. In each of the first two games, Trout hit first-inning three-run homers. He entered leading all Major League players with 6.7 FanGraphs Wins Above Replacement, adding a .319/.431/.560 slash line with 21 home runs and 74 RBIs.
His 363 extra-base hits ranked fifth all time before a player's 25th birthday.
