Soler, 24, was batting .223/.322/.377 with five homers prior to landing on the DL.
To make room on the roster, right-handed reliever Joe Nathan was designated for assignment. Nathan, who signed with the Cubs in May, made three appearances for Chicago, allowing two hits and two walks in two-plus scoreless innings.
