Giants manager Bruce Bochy was admitted to the University of Miami Hospital after falling ill, and he will miss the Giants' series opener against the Marlins, the team announced Monday.
Bochy is "resting comfortably and is expected to return tomorrow," the Giants said in a statement, though he will be held overnight. San Francisco holds a slim one-game lead over the Dodgers in the National League West.
Bochy has piloted the Giants to each of their last three World Series championships in 2010, '12 and '14, and he currently ranks 16th on the all-time managers list with 1,765 career victories.
