Ross to DL with right shoulder inflammation

dimanche 3 juillet 2016

Ross allowed four runs in 5 1/3 innings Saturday as his fastball fell from the mid-90s to the high-80s, and manager Dusty Baker said afterward the team was looking into his health.

Ross' ERA has dropped from 2.37 to 3.49 over his past six starts, during which he has given up 21 earned runs in 34 2/3 innings.

Ross' trip to the disabled list means Lucas Giolito will stay with the Nationals. Giolito, the top prospect in baseball according to MLBPipeline.com, made his Major League debut on Tuesday against the Mets, throwing four scoreless innings in a rain-shortened start.

Strasburg, who missed two starts with a lower back strain, started Sunday against the Reds.
