Sandoval says shoulder feels 'a lot better'

That information will come Monday, when Sandoval gets his second opinion from Dr. James Andrews. In the meantime, he will concentrate on the tedious portion of his rehab.

"Just cardio, icing," Sandoval said. "That's the only thing I can do."

Being a spectator has been difficult for Sandoval, who did not travel with the Red Sox on their road trip through Houston and Atlanta.

"It's difficult, because I'm the kind of guy that wants to be around those guys every time," Sandoval said. "I miss my teammates. So these couple of days, I'm happy to get back and spend time with them a little bit more."

Sandoval isn't sure if he will require surgery. That's what will likely be determined on Monday.

"I don't know. I'm not a doctor," Sandoval said. "I'm going to let them make the decisions. I don't know if I'm going to get surgery or not. At least I can move it around. The inflammation went down. I hope they can look at it and see what's going on."
