Wright, 33, has missed each of the Mets' last five games with the injury. He received an injection Tuesday to alleviate some of the discomfort, and the team was waiting until this weekend's series against the Marlins to determine if a DL stint was necessary.
Prior to the injury, Wright had homered in three straight games and was riding a six-game hitting streak. He's batting .226 (31-for-137) with seven homers and 14 RBIs through 37 games this season.
