Syndergaard has elbow discomfort, seeing doctor

NEW YORK -- Noah Syndergaard left Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Royals after six innings due to right elbow discomfort, the Mets revealed after his start.

Syndergaard, who allowed three runs in six innings, left Citi Field immediately for an examination by team orthopedist Dr. David Altchek. He is due to rejoin the Mets on Thursday in Atlanta, flying separately from the team. Syndergaard previously felt elbow discomfort earlier this season, but did not miss a start.
