Troy Tulowitzki's stint on the disabled list is over. The Blue Jays activated their All-Star shortstop, who had been dealing with a sore right quad, on Saturday, before their game against the Orioles at Camden Yards.
Tulowitzki went out for a rehab assignment with Class A Dunedin on Thursday. But manager John Gibbons said Tulowitzki would determine when he was ready to return, and two days later, he is rejoining the team. In a corresponding move, Toronto optioned infielder Andy Burns to Triple-A Buffalo.
Tulowitzki has been out since May 27, when he last played against the Red Sox -- although he initially injured his quad a few days earlier while stealing a base against the Yankees. Even before the injury, Tulowitzki had been scuffling at the plate this season, with a .204 batting average and 49 strikeouts in 46 games. The 31-year-old does have eight home runs.
TOR@NYY: Tulowitzki gets shaken up, leaves the game
Troy Tulowitzki leaves the game after running the bases in the top of the 7th inning, then gets replaced by Ryan Goins at shortstop
Burns was hitless in six at-bats over eight games for the Blue Jays this season, his first career big league action.
